Tethered hardware · Dropped object prevention

A loose bolt should never become a falling one.

Safety Wire Bolts patent-pending tethered fasteners stay captive even when vibration and load cycling back them out. Positive secondary retention for things that run overhead — installed with the same tools and torque procedures your crew already uses.

Made in the USAPatent-pending tethered technology
~250U.S. workers killed by falling objects every year
48,000+nonfatal falling-object injuries reported annually
10 mina worker is injured by a falling object about every ten minutes
Fatal 4struck-by incidents are one of OSHA's four leading causes of construction deaths

The hazard

Every fastener overhead is working against gravity.

Vibration, shock loading, thermal cycling, and thousands of duty cycles slowly back standard fasteners out. Wherever that hardware sits above people, product, or equipment — cranes, conveyors, elevated structures, turbines, platforms — gravity does the rest.

  • Cranes, hoists & monorails — constant travel vibration loosens rail clips, end truck hardware, and cover bolts.
  • Rotating & conveying equipment — conveyors, fans, blowers, and drives walk fasteners out of guards, housings, and access covers.
  • Elevated structures & supports — grating clips, handrail bolts, pipe hangers, and platform hardware sitting above active work areas.
  • Panels, guards, lighting & fixtures — junction boxes, light fixtures, sensors, and small covers shed hardware first — and are checked last.
Why small hardware mattersDropped-object (DROPS) guidance is blunt: even an object weighing under two pounds can carry fatal energy when it falls from typical working heights. A hard hat is the last line of defense — keeping the bolt attached in the first place is the first.
Anywhere work happens at heightFalling objects injure workers across construction, oil & gas, wind energy, offshore, ports, mining, steel, utilities, and aviation ground support — any place a fastener sits above people, product, or equipment.

The fix · Patent pending

Positive retention, built into the bolt.

A Safety Wire Bolts tethered bolt pairs the fastener with a patent-pending engineered retention tether anchored to the structure. This is not field-applied lockwire — retention is built into the fastener. If the bolt ever backs out, it hangs; it doesn't fall. Designed and made in the USA.

01 / Retain

Captive by design

The tether is rated for the fastener it carries. A backed-out bolt stays at height, attached and recoverable — never in free fall over your crew.

02 / Install

Standard tools, standard torque

No exotic procedure. Tethered bolts install with the wrenches and torque specs your maintenance team already runs, on new builds or retrofits.

03 / Inspect

Verify at a glance

A visible tether makes inspection fast: if it's hanging, you found your loose fastener before gravity did. Fold it into the inspection routine you already run.

Ordering

Every run is made to order.
